Ένα νέο γκέι free press περιοδικό εκδόθηκε αυτό το μήνα στη Θεσσαλονίκη, το Screw, «μια μηνιαία εφημερίδα ενάντια στην ομοιομορφία», όπως συστήνεται στο θεσσαλονικώτικο κοινό. Το οραματίστηκαν και το έφεραν σε πέρας ο Άρης Μπατσιούλας, εκ των πρωτεργατών του θρυλικού ΠΟΘΟΥ, ο Γιώργος Τσιτιρίδης και ο Νίκος Θεοδώρου. Τον μαχητικό, περιπαικτικό και σέξι τίτλο συμπληρώνει το εξίσου περιπαικτικό μότο: «because fags can read». Κι αυτό τα λέει όλα: το Screw «θα προσπαθήσει να λειτουργήσει με διάθεση περισσότερο διαχρονική, παρά ευκαιριακή, προσφέροντας στο κοινό όχι μόνο του σήμερα, αλλά και του αύριο, στα πρότυπα αγαπημένων εντύπων του παρελθόντος, όπως λ.χ. ο Πόθος ή το Κράξιμο», γράφουν στο πρώτο τεύχος οι τρεις συνεργάτες. Το Screw συνδυάζει το ακτιβιστικό μέρος, «που», όπως σημειώνουν οι τρεις, «απαιτείται σε κάθε σοβαρό ομοφυλοφιλικό έντυπο», με την ψυχαγωγία και την ενημέρωση για τη σκηνή της Θεσσαλονίκης.

Αυτό μεταφράζεται στις τυπωμένες σελίδες του Screw ως εξής: ειδήσεις από την Ελλάδα και τον κόσμο, άρθρα για τον κινηματογράφο και τις θεατρικές παραστάσεις που ανεβαίνουν στη Θεσσαλονίκη, αφιερώματα στην τέχνη και στη νυχτερινή ζωή. Επιπλέον, σε κάθε τεύχος θα υπάρχει το αφιέρωμα του μήνα, με άρθρα, συνεντεύξεις, φωτογραφίες. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται στο διαδραστικό κομμάτι, με σχόλια, γράμματα, και συμμετοχή των αναγνωστών και αναγνωστριών. «Το αγόρι του μήνα» είναι όποιος από τους αναγνώστες θέλει να μοιραστεί με τους αναγνώστες του περιοδικού μια απεικόνιση της ψυχής και του προσώπου του. «Ο ταχυδρόμος» είναι ο χώρος για να γράφουν οι αναγνώστες τις εμπειρίες, τους προβληματισμούς, τις σκέψεις σας, ενώ στο «Πώς γνωριστήκαμε» μπορούν να μιλούν για τις σχέσεις τους, φιλικές ή ερωτικές. Στο «Straight talk» οι στρέιτ φίλοι μιλούν για τους γκέι. Οι λεσβίες έχουν τη δική τους στήλη, το «Lesbian talk».
